All students participate in Career Guidance classes in Transition Year, Fifth Year and Sixth Year. Talks from guest speakers and opportunities for college visits are made available to students. Our Fourth Years undertake an individual career research project where they use the appropriate computer based resources to prepare a summary of their research findings. Our Career Guidance Teacher, Mr. Sweeney will also meet with students on an individual basis to provide support in areas such as careers research and college applications. Every Sixth Year student will have dedicated appointments to plan for their future third level courses (Further and Higher education options) / career path with appropriate follow up.
Senior students are instructed in the following: Goal setting, Time management / Study schedule, How to study / Note taking skills, Exam technique, Organisation and stress management
The Career Guidance Counsellor works closely with the Pastoral Care team. The school arranges workshops according to student needs. For example, the Junior Cert students had a Stress Management workshop in late September 2017. This was a five hour holistic event covering areas such as: Time Management and Note Taking, Study Skills, Stress Management, The Importance of Exercise and The Importance of Nutrition.
