AdventAdvent is a time of reflection; we take time out today to remember and to pray for the one hundred and sixty eight million children who are involved in child labour. This means that they are not in school this morning, they are working, often in hazardous conditions. The call to be a follower of Jesus is also a call to the great commandment to love – to love one another as Jesus loves us, and to treat others as we would like to be treated. Lord, we pray for these young souls, that the light of Justice will find a way into their lives this advent season and that we will have the courage to work together to build a world where child labour will no longer blight the lives of young people everywhere.
