Alannah McEvoy has recently returned from Serbia where the Irish U17 Soccer team successufully won their group (Serbia, Scotland & Hungary) to successfully qualify for the Euro Finals  taking place in the Czech Republic in May.

Alannah played in all three games and scored the winning goal in their 1-0 win over Serbia. We wish Alannah and all of  the Irish U17 squad the very best in their upcoming preparations for the tournament.

Thought for Lent

Easter imagePope Francis’ Message for Lent 2017

The theme of Pope Francis’ message for Lent 2017 is ‘The Word is a gift. Other persons are a gift’. In his message Pope Francis says, “Lent is a new beginning, a path leading to the certain goal of Easter, Christ’s victory over death. This season urgently calls us to conversion. Christians are asked to return to God “with all their hearts” (Joel 2:12), to refuse to settle for mediocrity and to grow in friendship with the Lord. Jesus is the faithful friend who never abandons us. Even when we sin, he patiently awaits our return; by that patient expectation, he shows us his readiness to forgive (cf. Homily, 8 January 2016).

International Women’s Day

DSCN6003Today is International Women’s Day! A day when we celebrate the many wonderful achievements of all women around the world and recognise the vital and unique contributions women make to our societies and communities.

Prayer for this special day.

God our Creator, we joyfully celebrate all women today; and we particularly give thanks for the wisdom, strength, courage and skill of the women in our own lives. Put a steadfast spirit within each of us Lord, as we as we continue to strive for an equal world in which all people are valued and respected. Amen.
