Sport:

The Senior A basketball team won their match on Monday.

The Senior A and B badminton teams also won their matches.

In soccer the First and Second Year football team won their match against Presentation Kilkenny in Kilkenny and are through to the next round of their league.

Alannah McEvoy (Second Year) made the F.A.I. girls academy Dublin M.G.L. team for the fourth year in a row.

Eva Roche and Katie O’Reilly (Second Year) are through to the final trials for the Leinster hockey team.

Rachel Rice (Second Year) is through to the next trial for the Irish under 15s basketball development squad.

Culture:

Maria Gorman (FirstYear) came fourth place in a singing competition at Kilcoole music festival.

Feachtas Table Quiz

Well done to Jess Conway, Bronagh Ni Mhurchu, Rachel Hayes, Ailbhe Byrne, Niamh Martin, Ciara Slattery, Katie O Reilly, Aoife White,  Sophie Connolly, Lauren Healy, Clare-Ann Bourke and Molly Sharkey who all competed in the regional round of Feachtas Table quiz (as Gaeilge), last Monday night in Colaiste Raithin. We had three teams each with two Senior and two Junior students. Congratulations to Sophie, Lauren, Clare-Ann and Molly who came 2nd and now go through to the National Finals which will be held in March.

ISTA Science quiz

Well done to Laura O Briain, Niamh O Brien and Carolyn Laoide-Kemp who participated in the ISTA Science Quiz last Thursday night and made it through to the Finals of the competition which is being held in trinity College tomorrow Saturday 22November.

 

Fantastic Past Pupils

Aisling Reidy was awarded an Entrance Exhibition Award for outstanding Leaving Certificate results in 2014 by Trinity College. Aisling is studying Philosophy, Political Science, Economics and Sociology

Sabha Joyce, Rachel Dunwoody, Jade Du Berry and Anna Lawless became Ad Astra Scholars in UCD last week for their outstanding Leaving certificate results. Sabha is studying Medicine; Jade is studying Business & Law while Anna and Rachel are both studying Science.

These students are a wonderful example to us all and show what can be achieved with effort and commitment.

Sport: 

Badminton; The under 16 A team won their match against Mt. Anvil last Tuesday and the under 16 B team won their match against St. Laurence’s on Wednesday.

Basketball; Both the senior and cadets basketball teams won their matches against Loreto Beaufort in the Loreto League on Saturday.

Karate: Alison Cahall in 103 came 1st in her karate competition.

The Junior Rugby team won their match in Donnybrook on Wednesday.

Dance

Amy Maguire in 103 came third in her poetry feis.

Heather Meaney also competed in an Irish dancing competition and won a bronze medal in the slipjig.

Maria Gorman in 108 did very well in an Irish Dancing Competition, winning two 1st places, two 2nd places and one 4th.

Community Involvement

Well done to Emily Shiel, Tara Desai and Nicole Moore in 5th Year. These girls participated in the preliminary round of the Pramerica Spirit of Community award. Well done to Nicole who has been chosen to represent the school in this competition.

 

(A note about the pramerica Awards : The Spirit of Community Awards provide an opportunity to salute students who get  involved in community service activities.  Twenty finalists will earn prizes including €500, an invitation to the Gala Awards dinner, and recognition for their school. Two All-Ireland Youth Volunteers of the Year will also be selected from the finalists, each of whom will receive €1,000 for their chosen charity and a trip to the United States. Since 2006, The Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards has honoured more than 150 youth volunteers at the national level for their volunteer work.)

 

Well done to all the TY students who brought in shoeboxes in aid of Team Hope. The Hope Foundation was really thankful for your support.

Congratulations to Class 307 who managed to raise a whopping €720 for the W.S.P.C.A.

School Science Quiz Winners

The Science Quiz Winners; from 3rd Year the winners were Ciara Heffernan, Weronika Oylaza, Sevil Jafarova and Ciara O’ Brien. In 2nd Year the winners were Aoife Donaghue, Nicola Foynes, Moreblessing Chigwedere and Emily Woods. In 1st Year there was a tie between Caitlyn McDermott, Vanina Foste, Maria Gorman and Niamh Martin and Lauren Hetherinton, Molly Sharkey, Chloe Donya and Laura Vielbe.

Junior A hockey team won their match yesterday they move on to the quarter final of the Leinster cup.

Margaret Ann Harney, Katie O Reilly and  Eva Roche are going to the Leinster Hockey trials this weekend..

Basketball

Both cadet and senior basketball teams won their matches against Rockford Manor in the Dublin championships.

Badminton

Eleanor Houghton, Julia Pinka in TY also and Christie and Victoria in Third Year won their recent match against Mount Anville.

Archery

Róisín Mooney 510 won Second place in the Cadette section of the Irish Indoor Archery Open and came Fourth in the women’s event.

Gaelic Football

Aine and Alice in 108 won a recent Gaelic final playing for Bray Emmets

Kick boxing

Both Kayleigh  Corish and Yasmin Finane won medals at the recent kickboxing championships.

Soccer

The school First Year Soccer team came Third in the recent Woodland Academy competition.

Alannah McEvoy 232 is soon going for trials for a place on the FAI Metropolitan girls team. If she makes it, it will be her fourth year making the team.

Alannah along with Amy Cahill were on the Enniskerry team that recently beat Joeys 5, 0.

Rowing

Shauna Douglas, Ruby Stewart, Juliette Fortune and Luca Dunne won a silver medal in the U18 East Coast Rowing League.

Cross country

Well done to all participants. Shaina Buckley and Denaragh Buckley both came Second in their respective categories.
