Extra Curricular
There is a huge range
of activities available for students Loreto Bray.
In the “games”
department students can play any number of the different sports
on offer. These include Hockey, Basketball, Badminton, Soccer, Gaelic,
Tennis and Tabletennis. Softball and Cricket also featured last
summer.
There is a school Debating
Society and First Years form teams to compete against one another
in special Lunchtime Debates. Second and Fifth Years take part in
the Loreto Debates, as well as taking part in local and national
debating competitions.
The school orchestra is very active
and First Years are encouraged to join it. Students who are keen
to learn a musical instrument are coached on the school instruments
during lunchtimes.
The Drama Club, under the experienced
hand of Ms Iris Keogh, is extremely popular. With Mr Sean Leahy
and some of the senior members, a number of plays are performed
in May each year. The club usually runs from 3.30 - 5.00 each Friday
evening.
Participation by students in some
“extra-curricular” activity is strongly encouraged.
Students make new friends, learn new skills and develop healthy
leisure pursuits. It also leaves less time for mischief!
