To Loreto Bray past pupils
Hi all,
I write to you on behalf of the Parents Association of your “alma
mater” as we embark on our only fund-raiser of the year,
a golf classic in Bray Golf Club on Friday 29th April 2005. Last
year this worked really well and raised 12,000 much needed euro
for the school. You may be aware that despite having met every
single Department of Education project criteria, Loreto Bray was
once again passed over for funding for a sports hall in the 2005
allocation of schools buildings monies. Hence the school is now
having to look at alternative ways of trying to provide this much-needed
resource for the current 860, and indeed the countless future pupils
so effective fund-raising is called for.
There are many ways that you could possibly help us out in support
of the golf classic:
- You (or your employer, partner, or whomsoever you
wish) could put in a team of four on the day. Costs for a team
are 450
euro before 11.50am and 650 euro between 12 noon and 2.30pm.
- You might like to play as an individual or twosome and we could
match you up with past pupils to make a team
- You might like to sponsor a hole or a tee @ 100 euro a piece
- You might like to put up a prize for use on the day
- You might like to offer some product for the 150 goodie bags that
will be distributed to players on the day
- You might just like to make a once-off contribution to the general
Parents Association fund-raising effort.
If none of those options are of interest to you we would also
welcome a prayer to whoever has the best line in dealing out fine
weather for that day!
If you would like any further information or entry forms please
email me your contact details (laura.cuddihy@dit.ie) and I will
get straight back to you.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and giving it your consideration,
we wish you health and happiness in 2005 and onwards.
Kind regards,
Laura Cuddihy

Third
Year Trip to Carlingford
The Third Years and five teachers
headed off to An Táin Village near Carlingford. Madness and
laughter were the order of the day as the teachers, headed by Bean
Uí Leidhín, joined in the aquatic based activities.
The 121 Third Years left school on Wednesday morning 15th October
and returned home on Thursday 16th October. Apart from the various
adventures and challenges that the students had to complete, there
was the excitement of spending the night with ten best friends!
It is unclear at this stage how much sleep the teachers got on the
night in question. Well done to Bean Uí Leidhín (
the main organiser), Ms Ashall (go to sleep now!!), Ms Hennessy
(Opps! I’m falling into the water again!), Ms Dowling (Me?
Go in the water? Are you mad?) and Ms Gleeson (There’s nothing
to this girls, it’s so easy!) for giving so generously of
their time and sleep to make the trip possible.
Transition Years in Delphi
Our 124 Transition Year
students headed off to Delphi for their annual bonding trip on Tuesday
14th October 2003 at 06.15a.m.!! It was obvious from the hugs and
laughter on their return on Friday 17th October that the bonding
had certainly worked well. Whether the attraction of Delphi lies
in the ruggedness of the scenery or its instructors is a mute point.
What is clear is that the students love the place and all wanted
to return. Ms Daly, Ms Murphy, Ms O’Toole, Ms Regan and Ms
Rooney generously agreed to accompany the students and stay to ensure
everything went according to plan. Thanks to their commitment and
hard work the outing was a marvellous success.
IIncidentally, a Ms Murphy
from Roebuck, Dublin 14 took the time and trouble to write to the
school to compliment the girls on their excellent behaviour and
courtesy on the train from Westport. Thank you Ms Murphy and well
done Transition Years!
